Welcome back Year 2! I hope you all had an exciting Easter break!
A gentle reminder of routines:
Spellings and homework are given out on Fridays to be handed in by Wednesday. Spelling sheets can be kept at home and do not need to be returned as this will give children the opportunity to practice every day in preparation for the spelling test on Fridays.
Spelling books are no longer sent home, therefore spelling scores will be sent home on Fridays on paper noting the date, score and words children need to continue working on. It is important that children not only learn spellings for weekly spelling tests but incorporate these spellings into their writing.
Please read with your child every night and record it in their reading record. Reading with your child daily helps to not only develop their fluency, comprehension and inferential skills but it also helps improve their writing and spellings.
Reading books are changed once a week. Please check the note on the door of the classroom to know which day your book is due to be changed.
Our P.E. days are as follows:
Tuesday - outdoor
Friday - indoor
This term we will be focusing on athletics and gymnastics
If you have any questions or concerns at any point please do not hesitate to speak to the class teacher at the beginning or end of the day. I believe a big part of your child's success is a result of strong school-home links and communication.
