Thorpe Lea Primary School

'A dedicated community working together, nurturing a safe, happy school where all children can achieve their potential'

This term we will be learning about an extinct animal and creating a fact file. The children will also be using the story 'The Journey Home' as a base for writing postcards in character (ensuring the past tense is used accurately) and a letter describing why certain animals are in danger of extinction.

The second story we will be using is 'Jim and the Beanstalk.' From this, we will compare similar stories and explore a range of punctuation/ vocabulary through creating our own version of the story.

The focus this term is on ensuring children are using joining words (and, but, so, that, because etc) to extend their writing and using ambitious vocabulary appropriately. We will continue to work on handwriting ensuring capital letters and small case letters are of the correct size and orientation.
