This half term in Reception we will be learning all about 'Plants'. Each week we will introduce a new theme and ask your child what they want to find out! This will include flowers, fruit, vegetables and stories such as Jack in the Beanstalk and The Enormous Turnip!

We will also one main role play this half term, which will be a garden centre within the classroom to really develop the children's imagination and scientific enquiry. We will also set up regular role plays outside to develop a variety of other skills including, Literacy, Mathematics, curiosity and team work!

Please do have a look at our Medium Term Planning which outlines what are aiming to cover/learn during this topic!

'Hands On' Experiences this half term

Our aim is to provide as many hands on experiences at school which will provide awe and wonder for the children. These include looking after our very own chickens, cooking and vegetable tasting. There are also ideas for home learning and visits on each of the weekly theme pages! We will keep you up-to-date with all these experiences via this class page - stay tuned for lots of exciting photos!

Staines/Ashford Library

Whilst we do have some wonderful fiction and non-fiction books at school, the local libraries can offer so, so much more! On each weekly page, there are some great examples of texts that support the weekly theme and all books in green can be accessed at either Staines or Ashford library. The library is free to join and to loan books and you can now pre-order books for children for free by going online! Please do make use of such a wonderful resource. The link to sign up for Surrey libraries is here.
