Visits and places to explore - Farmer's Market:

(the links in green are free attractions!)

  • Take a visit to a real farmers market - some of the nearest include:

Byfleet Farmer's Market - First Saturday of every month, 9am - 1pm at Plough Green KT14 7QL

Camberley Farmer's Market - Third Saturday of every month, 10am - 3pm at Park Street GU15 2NN

Epsom Farmer's Market - First Sunday of every month, 9am - 1.30pm at High Street KT19 8AH

  • There is also a local poultry show and 'Farmers Market' in Wraysbury which runs once every month (every 2nd Monday of the month). Within this 'show' there are stalls selling poultry, local honey, a range of meat, fresh eggs, owl handlers etc. There is a small entrance fee of £1.00 per adult and children enter for free - it would be a great evening for your child to ask questions to the experts! The leaflet with details is below. Kind members of the poultry group have also offered for us to borrow their own equipment to allow us to hatch chicks free of charge - please do support their shows as they have supported us!

*Please note as much as we encourage these wonderful visits and think they are fantastic learning experiences, if you wish to visit these please do so at weekends, evenings or during the holidays - we really don't want your little ones to miss any school learning!*

Activities to do at home:

Click on the text below the pictures to find resources and instructions as to how to carry out these lovely farmer's market related activities at home!

Look at the picture and talk about what you can see! What does this market sell? What would you find at a farmer's market? What would you not find at a farmer's market? What would you see/smell/hear/taste/touch?

Create their own 'Farmer's Market' picture on 'Purple Mash'. This has been set as a '2do' for your child. Their password and instructions for the programme can be found in their homework files.

Shopping list activity- developing literacy, numeracy and healthy food recognition.
