Thorpe Lea Primary School

'A dedicated community working together, nurturing a safe, happy school where all children can achieve their potential'

25.03.20

Hi Reception!

I hope you're all keeping well and enjoying this time at home. It's very weird not seeing you all every day. I hope you've been enjoying your home learning but also having lots of fun with your toys, siblings and playing outside (if you can!).

Hopefully we will be back to school soon and we can get back to normal!

Read Write Inc will be streaming online lessons for the speed sounds during this time away from school. Please see their Facebook page or their Youtube channel search Ruth Miskin Training.

SET 1: 9:30am

SET 2: 10:00am

SET 3: 10:30am

These lessons will only be available for 24 hours.

I would really recommend tuning into these to support your child's phonics.

Have a go at playing this game with your child/ren. Role the dice and encourage your child to sound out the words on the game.

Have a go at ordering the numbers. Encourage your child to have a go at cutting the numbers out themselves, this will support their fine motor skills.
Encourage your child to count how many vehicles are on each side of the road and then write their answers in the boxes. Then encourage your child to circle which one has more.
Please choose between the phase 2 and phase 3 challenges depending on your child's ability. If you would like to complete both with them, then that is totally fine! If you are not sure where they are at, then I would recommend starting with phase 2 and then going onto phase 3.
Please only complete page 5 and 6. The rest will be set as work over other days :)

The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle

Have a go at reading this story with your child. I would recommend muting the sound and reading it to them, if you have the book easily accessible I would use that rather than the video.
