All Creatures - great and small

The Gruffalo 

These two weeks the children have started their new topic ‘All Creatures, great and small’. They started the term with a 'WOW' day where Wild Workshops came in with all the creepy crawlies! The children learnt about the The children read the Gruffalo story, created a healthy meal for the Gruffalo and made a woodland scene using arts and crafts. They also had the opportunity to watch the Gruffalo story, make gruffalo play-dough and create a woodlands theme role play! The children practiced describing the Gruffalo ‘orange eyes’, ‘furry tail’ and created their own gruffalo and made ‘scrambled snake’ in their cooking lesson! In Maths the children learnt to count accurately by touching each object and crossing out when objects cannot be moved. Please see Tapestry for pictures.

King's Coronation 

 

  

This week the children have been learning about Kings Charles III coronation. The children learnt what the coronation is and why it is a special celebration. The children made flags, crowns and sang the coronation song in our special whole school assembly. We ended the day with the coronation of our Thorpe Lea King! In Maths, the children continued to practice how to count objects accurately. Please see Tapestry for pictures.
