Nursery

 Welcome to the Nursery page for Thorpe Lea Primary School

 

On this page you will find up-to-date information about your child's learning, life in the Nursery, and how you can support your child at home.

 

We currently have three Nursery Session:

Session A - Monday to Wednesday (finish at 11:40 on Wed)

Session B - Wednesday (start at 12:15pm) to Friday

30 Hours  - Monday to Friday (full time)

 

Gate times

Please note that the Nursery gate opens promptly at 8:45am and closes at 9am. On Wednesday, the gate opens at 11:40am for pick up and closes at 11:45am. This is to ensure that we can be ready for the next session at 12:15pm. The gate will open at 12:15pm for Session B and will close at 12:25pm. At the end of  each day, the gate opens at 3:10pm and will close at 3:20pm. We expect you to collect your child promptly. Thank you.

The Nursery is fully staffed with Miss Tyler as the class teacher and Mrs Wicks and Miss Hall who assist the Nursery full time.

Nursery Curriculum 

The children follow a structured timetable (see below) and are given the opportunity to access enrichening activities that follow the new EYFS curriculum. The learning environment is planned according to half termly topics which seek to develop children's core skills of:

 

- communication and language.

- physical development

- personal, social and emotional development.

In addition to this, the children access maths, literacy, art and science through structured carpet input and ongoing provisions in their learning environment. 

 

Below, you will find information on our termly topics and WOW days. We choose a story every two weeks (except from All About Authors topic where we look at a different biography each week) that links to the topic, activities and teaching is planned around the topic-related stories.  Please click on the topic icons below to see what your child is learning about in school.
