At Thorpe Lea we are committed to providing our pupils with 2 hours of high quality PE each week. Within each year group, units of study include: Athletics, Invasion Games, Net & Wall Games, Striking & Fielding Games, Gymnastics, Dance and Outdoor pursuits.

School swimming lessons usually take place for 8 weeks in the Autumn term for year 4 and top up swimming will take place in summer term for year 4 and 5 students who have not yet met criteria. Lessons take place on Thursday afternoon for 1 hour at the Egham Orbit Centre. The aim is to provide a fun water based alternative physical activity while developing water confidence, stroke technique and an understanding of water safety. With the current pandemic we are postponing our swimming lessons until the Summer term for both Year 4 and 5.

As a school we value the importance of a healthy active lifestyle and have in place a comprehensive programme of Out of School Hours Sports Clubs led by Thorpe Lea staff and outside sports agency providers. This complemented by inter house competitions throughout the year.

We have regular sporting events such as netball and football matches. These are arranged by our Netball coach; Miss Moore and Football coach; Mr Dolby. We are looking to build upon these throughout the year and will update this information regularly.

As we are apart of ERPSSA (Elmbridge & Runnymede School Sport Association) we are invited to a range of other competitions and festivals ranging from tag rugby to multi skills these also include virtual competition and games.
