Welcome Year 2!
2023/2024
A very warm welcome to Year 2! I am very excited for our year ahead! We have lots of exciting activities and learning to complete so the expectations in terms of behaviour and attendance are high. I will do my utmost to help support your child where needed so that they can engage positively and productively whilst on their learning journey in Year 2. Support from parents is really important and I would remind you that:-
- your child should be reading daily
- reading books will be changed once a week
- spellings will be sent home on a Monday and a test will be done on Friday
- Two PE days: Monday (outdoor) and Thursday (indoor) - children to arrive in full PE kit
If you have any questions or concerns at any point during the year, please give the school office a call and I will return your call as soon as possible. I believe a big part of your child's success is a result of strong school-home links and communication.
Kindest regards
Mrs Marwick
Class Routines
Spellings:
Your child's green spelling books contain the words the children need to learn. They can use these books at home to practise writing their spellings. A spelling test will take place each Friday in class. The green books need to be returned at the end of each half term so that we can update the spelling list.
Reading:
Children are expected to read every night. Please record this in the children's reading records so this can be checked by a Year 2 adult. Reading books are changed once a week; currently on a Monday. Please note, they will only be changed if it has been written in their reading record that they have read the books.
PE:
Our PE days this year are Monday (outdoor) and Thursday (indoor). Your children will need to come to school in their school PE kit on these days and they must come prepared for all weather. Please label all clothes and shoes.
