Year 2

Week 8 Remote Learning

(Week beginning 01.03.21)

World Book Week extra activities

Spring 2 spellings for Blue and Yellow group.

For our remote education offer, we will be using the following platforms - Year 2 class page, Microsoft Teams and Class Dojo.

Class page, I will upload the key information and links to your learning as well as any updates. Your online learning can be found in the documents below. I will also copy any information from this page on to Class Dojo as well to avoid missing anything.

Class Dojo is where you will upload your completed work to your portfolio this can be a picture, a video or even a document. Once it is in your portfolio, I will then be able to respond and feedback on your work.

Microsoft Teams will allow us to have a daily 'tutor meeting' which you will login into live so we can catch up and chat about your work and answer any questions. This is currently scheduled for 9am each day. After our meeting, I will be on Teams from 9:30-11:30 to answer any questions you may have about your work.

I will be setting a minimum of 3 hours worth of work per day.  This will be Maths, English and one other subject. I know at times it may prove difficult but it is important to get into a routine each day, below you will see an example of a daily timetable to follow.

To access the lessons, click on the day of the week above and there you will find a range of lessons to complete for the day. If you are finding the English or Maths difficult you can try the 'Alternative' English or Maths.

Remember to listen, focus and try your best. Pause the videos when you need to and you can always email me or send me a message on ClassDojo if you need some help. Once you have completed your task at the end of your lesson, make sure you upload a picture/ video of your work to your ClassDojo portfolio.

I look forward to seeing you all (virtually) every morning at 9am! Even though we are not face to face you must still brush your teeth! laugh

9:00-9:30     Tutor with Miss Moore

This will take place on Teams everyday. It is some time where we will catch up about yesterdays work and I will also teach you some skills that you will need for today's lessons. (Miss Moore will be on the call until 11:30)

9:30-10:30 English In this hour you will complete your English lesson on Oak National Academy. This hour will allow you to pause the video and complete all independent work.
10:30-11:00 Break Give yourself a break! You have worked hard so far!
11:00-12:00 Maths In this hour you will complete your Maths lesson on Oak National Academy. This hour will allow you to pause the video and complete all independent work. Within this hour you will also be able to complete your quiz. If you have time left over I would like you to go on TimesTable Rockstars or you can practise your times tables, addition or subtraction on Top Marks.
12:00-13:00 Lunch Fuel your body with some good food! Get outside, have a run around!
13:00-14:00 Other activity During this hour you can complete the topic work that has been set for you. This may consist of a Science work, Music, Art, PE or any other subject we normally do in the afternoon at school. Week 2 Remote learning

(Week beginning 11.01.21)

Welcome to Year 2!

Class Routines

Your child's spelling books contain the words the children need to learn but it is also where they will do their spelling test, so please ensure the books come back into school every Wednesday. These will be marked and sent home the same day.

Children are expected to read every night. Please record this in the children's reading records so this can be checked by a Year 2 adult. Reading books are changed once a week; currently on a Friday. Please note, they will only be changed if it has been written in their reading record that they have read the books.

Our PE days this year are Monday and Wednesday. Your children will need to come to school in their school PE kit on these days and they must come prepared for all weather. Please label all clothes and shoes.

If you have any questions or concerns at any point please give the school office a call and I will return you call as soon as possible. I believe a big part of your child's success is a result of strong school-home links and communication.
