Year 2

Year 2,

This will be the last online message I will be writing to you as Year 2s! How time flies! I remember meeting you all as you took your first steps into Year 1 all that time ago. You were so little and shy; oh how you have all changed! I feel very lucky that I got to teach you for all of Year 1 and our short time in Year 2! I hope you have all had as great a time as I have! I’m so glad you will only be next door to me next year. I hope you all have a wonderful summer holidays and I look forward to seeing you all in September!

All of your work this week is based around ‘transition’ (moving) from Year 2 to Year 3. You have an English and Maths booklet recapping all that you have learnt. For your topic I have found a wonderful booklet for you to make for Mr Bernard. You can complete it and give it to him on your Meet the Teacher morning!

Stay safe everyone! Be kind and have lots of fun!!

I will see you all soon!

From Miss Moore :)

Below is a link to a website which has a range of reading books for children of your age. It is from Read Write Inc; Oxford owl which is the scheme we follow for our school phonics and early reading. Please have a look and a read it will make a change to your school reading books I'm sure you have now read A LOT!! Enjoy! :)

For previous week's work and useful websites please scroll down to the 'Home learning icon' where you will find all work from previous weeks.

Welcome to Year 2!

Class Routines

Spellings:
Spellings will go out on a Thursday and spelling tests will be the following Wednesday. Please keep the Spelling book at home until Wednesday so they children can learn their spellings over the weekend. The book that is sent home is also the book the children do their spelling test in. Therefore, that book must be in school every Wednesday!

Reading:

Children are expected to read every night. Please record this in the children's reading records so this can be checked by a Year 2 adult. Reading books are changed once a week; please check the rota in Year 2 to check what day your child's book should be changed. Please note, they will only be changed if it has been written in their reading record that they have read the books.

PE:
Our PE days this year are Mondays: Indoors and Wednesday: Outdoors. Please label all clothes and shoes.

If you have any questions or concerns at any point please do not hesitate to speak to me at the beginning or end of the day. I believe a big part of your child's success is a result of strong school-home links and communication.
