Our Vision and Values

School Vision

A dedicated community working together, nurturing a safe, happy school where all children can achieve their potential

School Mission

To give every child the opportunity to enjoy and achieve fully in all areas, whilst developing a set of core life values, an awareness of their responsibilities as citizens and an appreciation of the wider world.

At Thorpe Lea Primary School our goal is to develop caring and responsible young citizens for the future, who learn how to develop their independence and take on shared responsibility for their own learning and progress. Our pupils learn to protect and to make a contribution to, the wonderful world which we all share. They are encouraged to achieve their full potential in all they do, to enjoy life and to celebrate our school values. All our pupils from the very youngest demonstrate and uphold our school values both in school life and in the wider community.

Our Values

Our values are a shining light to guide our pupils throughout their lives, both at school and at home.

Each week we celebrate these values in our Celebration Assembly.  Children are recognised for demonstrating these values throughout their learning and in their approach to school life.

We find this to be an effective way to ensure the children understand what the values look like in practice.  It provides an opportunity for children to influence each other in a positive way, and to give them practical examples which can be embedded in their school life.

Our Mini Parliament plays an active role in shaping how these values are lived across the school. They regularly share ideas on how to promote positive behaviour and lead initiatives that encourage everyone to uphold our values.

Alongside this, our Well-being Champions support their peers by modelling kindness, empathy, and resilience. They help create a safe and supportive environment where every child feels valued and heard, reinforcing the importance of well-being as part of our school ethos.

British Values

These efforts are closely linked to the promotion of British Values—democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance. Through the work of our pupil parliament and Well-being Champions, children experience these principles in action, learning to respect differences, make responsible choices, and contribute positively to their community.
