Diwali Celebration

On Tuesday 2nd November, all the children and teachers at Thorpe Lea came together to celebrate Diwali. We had parent volunteers who taught us about their wonderful celebration in a whole school assembly. Diwali which is known as the festival of lights is all about celebrating the good things in life. Our parent volunteers told us about the story of Rama and Sita and showed us how to do Pooja (worship and prayer) which is an important part of Diwali celebration. All the staff dressed up in traditional Indian clothes and children lit up tea lights to represent diya lamps. We then watched and took part in the pooja and finally danced away to celebrate this wonderful festival. We were very lucky to also have traditional food and sweets to eat afterwards, the parents did a great job at making the samosas, onion bhajis and sweets. We all learnt a lot about Diwali - festival of lights!

Diwali Celebration 2022

On Monday 17th October, the entire school came together to learn and celebrate the festival of Diwali. Parents, staff and some children dressed up to mark the festivity. This year, the children took part in acting out the Diwali Story and presented to the whole school, some our parents who celebrate Diwali and to the members of the Church. We all the then took part in the 'puja' which was performed by one of the parents. The children and staff all enjoyed the traditional food. See below for some pictures of the fabulous celebration.
