Our Aims and Values

School Vision

To make Thorpe Lea Primary the school of choice in this community by achieving a strong reputation based on innovative and impactful learning strategies, excellent leadership and consistently strong results.

School Mission

To give every child the opportunity to enjoy and achieve fully in all areas, whilst developing a set of core life values, an awareness of their responsibilities as citizens and an appreciation of the awesome wonders of the wider world.

At Thorpe Lea Primary School our goal is to develop caring and responsible young citizens for the future, who learn how to develop their independence and take on shared responsibility for their own learning and progress. Our pupils learn to protect and to make a contribution to, the wonderful world which we all share. They are encouraged to achieve their full potential in all they do, to enjoy life and to celebrate our school values. Our pupils can spend up to eight years with us, starting in our purpose-built Nursery, and progressing through the school to Year 6. All our pupils from the very youngest demonstrate and uphold our school values both in school life and in the wider community.

Our values are a shining light to guide our pupils throughout their lives:

  • High Expectations: in our behaviour, our school work, our homework and our everything we do.
  • Respect: for each other, for each other's property, for nature and for the wider world we share.
  • Teamwork: our strong belief in working together to achieve the best possible result, sharing ideas and strengths.
  • Diversity: a profound belief that we treat everyone as our equal, celebrating difference and the strengths it brings.
  • Nurturing Care: the knowledge that our school offers us a safe and supportive environment on which to thrive and progress.
  • Communication: To ensure we can all communicate well verbally and in writing and are able to express our feelings.
  • Creativity: to develop our own creativity and our ability to solve problems by applying our knowledge.
